Welcome to the Blind/Visually Impaired Owner Surrender Dogs' Page

Blind/Visually Impaired Owner Surrender Dogs is something of a small island, off of Blind Dog Rescue Alliance, in as far as, these blind/visually impaired dogs stay with their owners, until a new home is found!

While this may bother some because of screening, this group does its best to screen these dogs &  from all I've seen in their postings, of dogs needing homes, they also  find out as much as they possibly can  about  each dog & really cares about each one, as if it were with one of their fosters.  They are still working with the owners, to help with any issues the dog has, but again they can make no promises, as these dogs are not in their care. (Please see links & info at the bottom, if you would like to adopt or, if you need to rehome, a blind or visually impaired dog.)

A NOTE:  In addition & without humor added, I remind you that any animal with teeth can bite, from the smallest to the largest & that when you adopt an animal, no matter how young or old, no matter whether you buy or, like myself, swear by ADOPT, DON'T SHOP, there is a chance you can get bit.

The point is, let your pet adjust to you, before you just lay on all the love you have (you may scare him, if he's never known that); don't let the kids mess with him right away, especially if  he is blind /visually impaired& they haven't been taught how to approach him/her properly; let him/her be properly introduced to any other pets, in your home . DON'T just throw everyone in the pool & let them sort it out, take the proper precautions in all situations with your new pet, whether he is blind/visually impaired or not!

Please investigate & find out from Blind Visually Impaired Owner Surrender Dogs , what the best way is to bring the dog into your home & feel free to ask questions, because I can tell you myself, having a 9 year old blind dog that I rescued a year ago, I asked these guys a ton of questions when I got home with her, because I was slightly clueless, with a blind dog.  After 25 years in rescue, I'd had every other kind of dog, but now, this little girl is my velcro dog & these guys not only answered my questions, they found help in areas, that needed special help with her, to get me the answers I needed.  It wasn't because I adopted from them, it wasn't because they knew me or Sassy (that's my little blind girl)! It was because they love animals & they WILL HELP YOU in any way they can, even in you already have a blind/visually impaired dog & have a question. It's not about money, at all! It's about trying to keep animals in their homes or find them a new home, where they'll be happy & helping anyone else that happens to come along the way! That in my eyes, is what Blind/Visually Impaired Owner Surrender Dogs is about!
