About Good Old Tails Senior Rescue
Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of senior dogs and cats in the Southern Pennsylvania/Northern Maryland areas.
We believe that senior animals deserve loving, caring homes where they will be taken care of the rest of their days.
Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue was founded in 2015 by a small group of animal lovers. Years of rescue showed us that the senior demographic in shelters is often the most overlooked and highly euthanized. These animals are discarded because of failing health, new pets in the family, a lack of time for attention and care, and countless other reasons which Good Old Tails finds deplorable. Pets are a commitment for life, not until they are an inconvenience. We are dedicated to saving as many senior dogs and cats as we can, and providing them with love and care so that they can live out the rest of their days with dignity and happiness. Some of these animals may never leave our rescue, and their foster families will be the ones to say the last good-bye. Others will go on to find families of their own. Whatever the outcome, we have made the promise to them that they will never again be alone.
NOW, WHO ARE GOOD OLD TAILS? This is the meat & potatoes part, so to speak! This is going to tell you why you want to help THIS RESCUE, rather than spend that money or time somewhere else! So hang on & READ ON!
Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue are folks, who know every inch of what senior animal rescue is & they are in for every bit of it! They know & love their dogs & cats! Their likes & dislikes, but most importantly who they are! Just take a look at their Facebook posts & that becomes clear! Something else becomes clear in those posts & that's is that these are POSITIVE PEOPLE! I say that, because so many of their posts just give me a chuckle! They find the funny in what's going on with their animals, not that they are seniors, need medical help or are looking for homes, but ,maybe, in the way their laying or they're playing or just they'll post a cartoon! Some people in the world of senior rescue ONLY see the negative of it, THEY MAINTAIN A SENSE OF HUMOR & that's absolutely gotta be great for the animals, not to mention what it is for the volunteers, fosters or potential adopters! These ARE real RESCUE ANGELS & I'm sure I'll make that statement again before I'm done! READ ON!
Most rescues, I've found, have become cookie cutter, all sounding the same, yet when they speak, they say nothing useful. They mostly want to deal with puppies & kittens or younger dogs & cats, since they are easily placed, bring higher adoption fees. There are far less medical bills & far more profits. They don't know who their animals are & they don't deal properly with their senior/special needs animals! Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue is doing just the opposite! They are not only taking care of these animals until adoption, but they are taking care of them for life, if that's what they require! That's real love & real rescue!
A real rescue always knows their dogs & cats, takes the time to make the right placements, takes care of medical, doing it with love, while continuing to help the others in the process! This is the way that a true rescue should be run! BELIEVE THIS, the road that Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue has chosen will be laden with hard work & is one that takes a lot of love & patience, as well! It is not something that I've found most rescues have the heart to choose, which brings me to my final point! Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue DESERVES our support, in whatever way you choose, because it does take that patience & love & showers it upon dogs & cats, some which have never known love & some so ill, upon their arrival, that even other rescues, might call them disposable & give up on them! Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue gives them medical care, gives them a home & most importantly, gives them much needed love! If that doesn't deserve our respect & support, then I don't know what does! I have to say is that Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue does so much, for these senior dogs & cats everyday, that EVERY one of us, owe them something, to help with all of the emotional & financial tolls, that they are paying daily. They get the love from the animals, but the suffer so much loss with the senior & special needs! The medical, food, spay/neuter are all through the roof & they are a small rescue with small adoption fees! They need our help, in the form of donations, volunteers, fosters, adoptions, Amazon Smile, wishlist items, or start a Facebook or Go Fund Me fundraiser! Not necessarily in that order! It’s more than a matter of the heart, it’s a matter of the human soul! It's a pay it forward kind of thing!You gotta feel it & when you feel it, you're just gonna feel better about you!
