Mission

Meeting the needs of so many homeless, neglected and abused pugs, is a considerable financial challenge. Pug Rescue of North Carolina & Virginia relies on donations to continue our valuable work to save the lives of these precious pugs. All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law as described in sections 509 (a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the IRS code.

About Pug Rescue of North Carolina & Virginia
We can Help!

Pug Rescue of North Carolina (PRONC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the Pug Dog Breed. We rescue pugs in crisis, carefully nursing them back to health, physically and emotionally, in individual PRONC volunteer’s homes. Each pug is treated as family until such time as a suitable home, which has been screened and approved by the membership, can be located.

Many pugs come to PRONC with minor to severe health challenges. We make every effort to save each animal that comes into our care, saving euthanasia for only the extreme, and very rare case where there is no other reasonable option. We have every pug evaluated by a veterinarian and they are spayed/neutered, heartworm checked, micro-chipped and brought up to date on all vaccinations.

At this time, due to limited resources, we are only accepting pure bred pugs. However, we rescue pugs of any age or health. Our ability to accept an animal is limited to available space and funding. Thanks to you, we have saved many pugs from being put down at overcrowded animal shelters.

PRONC has no paid employees and is supported through your kind gift donations and through the wonderful efforts of our family of volunteers. As you can imagine, meeting the needs of so many homeless, neglected and abused animals, is a financial challenge. Won't you consider making your tax deductible donation today? You will feel great knowing that you brought some light into a little dog’s life who will then go on to bring happiness into someone’s home.

If you love the pug breed and would like to join us in opening your heart and home to foster pugs in need, we would love to hear from you. We need kind hearted and dedicated volunteers in the Carolinas and surrounding states.

We are a publicly supported organization described in sections 170 (b) (1) (A) (vi) of the IRS code

We are a 501 ( 3 ) (c) nonprofit organization, and your donations are tax deductible!

This is where you get my opinion, on why you want to help PRONC, rather than spend that money or time somewhere else! Most of the reasons are layed out in their incredibly well written Mission Statement, above, but I'd like to expand on that a bit, so please hang on & READ ON!

PRONC are folks, who know every inch of what animal rescue is & they are in for every bit of it! They know & love their pugs! Their likes & dislikes, but most importantly who they are! Just take a look at their website or Facebook posts (links at bottom of page) & that becomes clear!

Just to mention a couple of their adorable adoptables, that are presently on their  website, are Elvis & Abby, a bonded pair of 14 & 9 year old, brother & sister & Emma, a 10 year old special needs pug. Abby loves stuffed squeak toys & has been known to fall asleep with one in her mouth & Elvis does wonderful for his age.  Elvis has some vision issues & needs eye drops! Emma has chronic dry eyes & will always need eye drops.  She also has separation anxiety & would love a pet parent, that works at home! All of these fur babies are good with dogs & kids over 6 years old. The adoption fee for Elvis & Abby is $250, for both & for Emma is $125. These guys & gals are all pictured above & would love to be part of your family, so contact Cathleen at cathleen@pugrescuenc.org for information on adopting these fur-iends or some of the other wonderful fur kids listed at PRONC!

Most rescues, I've found, have become cookie cutter, all sounding the same, yet when they speak, they say nothing useful. They mostly want to deal with mainly puppies, or very young dogs, since they are easily placed, bring higher adoption fees. There are far less medical bills & far more profits.  They don't know who their animals are & they don't deal properly with their senior/special needs animals! PRONC is doing just the opposite!  They are not only taking care of these animals until adoption, but they are taking care of them for life, if that's what they require! That's real love & real rescue!

A real rescue always knows their dogs & cats, takes the time to make the right placements, takes  care of medical, doing it with love! This is the way that a true rescue should be run! BELIEVE THIS, the road that PRONC has chosen will be  laden with hard work & is one that takes a lot of love & patience, as well! It is not something that I've found most rescues have the heart to choose, which brings me to my final point!

PRONC DESERVES our support, in whatever way you choose, because it does take that patience & love & showers it upon pugs, some which have never known love & some so ill, upon their arrival, that even other rescues, might call them disposable & give up on them! PRONC gives them medical care, gives them a home & most importantly, gives them much needed love! If that doesn't deserve our respect & support, then I don't know what does! I have to say is that PRONC does so much, for these pugs everyday, that EVERY one of us, owe them something, to help with all of the emotional & financial tolls, that they are paying daily. The medical, food, spay/neuter are all through the roof & they are a small rescue with more than reasonable adoption fees!, especially for how much they are investing into every one of these fur kids! They need our help, in the form of donations, volunteers (in both NC & VA), fosters (in both NC & VA), adoptions,(in both NC & VA) Amazon Smile, wishlist items, or start a Facebook or Go Fund Me fundraiser! Not necessarily in that order! It’s more than a matter of the heart, it’s a matter of the human soul! It's a pay it forward kind of thing! You gotta feel it & when you feel it, you're just gonna feel better about you!
